KNOXVILLE, Tennessee,
2003 June 19—Cyclomedical Applications Group is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Associates, expanding the range of accelerator expertise in positron emission tomography (PET) services and capabilities offered to clients. Associates are invited to join Cyclomed based on their experience with particle accelerators or PET radiopharmaceutical production.
Lewis Carroll has worked in the accelerator field since 1969 and led the development of innovative Positron Emission Tomography systems, including the first commercially-produced multi-slice BGO Neuro-Tomograph. His specialties include: RF system design, Power and Control System design and engineering, radiation science, including instrumentation, shielding, health physics, and radiation safety.
Fred Ramsey has been in the accelerator field since 1962. His professional specialties include: accelerator control, power, vacuum, and electro-mechanical system design and implementation, complete mastery and hands-on facility in all aspects of accelerator system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, project management with particular talent for efficient system implementation, field installation, commissioning and de-commissioning, system start-up, testing, and user training.
Carroll and Ramsey played a major role in the design, development, manufacture, installation, and servicing of most of the biomedical- and radiopharmaceutical isotope-producing cyclotrons currently in use world-wide, including systems built by The Cyclotron Corporation (TCC), some of which have been in service since 1966, and CTI Cyclotron Systems. As principals of Carroll & Ramsey Associates they provide technical support, on- site maintenance, and repair services.
Dr. James Lamb, President of Cyclomed, announced, “We are delighted to have Fred and Lew as our Associates. With the help of such expert Associates, Cyclomed can offer a PET accelerator owner/operator the benefit of a wide range of services from a single contractor.”
Cyclomedical Applications Group is an organization of experienced radiopharmaceutical experts serving the radiopharmaceutical industry, especially owners and operators of medical cyclotrons dedicated to the production of positron emitting radioisotopes. It works primarily with facilities producing and distributing F-18 FDG–the most widely used positron-emitting radiopharmaceutical in PET scanning.
Consulting services offered by the company range from short-term consultation to longer-term retainer arrangements and assistance with regulatory agencies as well as cyclotron operation and FDG production problems. Contract management services range from full responsibility for a cyclotron/FDG production facility to a monitoring posture in support of an in-place management team.
Cyclomed’s goal is to provide a full range of support expertise including FDG market research and development, facility financing, facility planning and operation, licensing and safety, and FDA regulatory issues. The company currently has operational responsibility for several cyclotron/FDG facilities and is providing cyclotron consultation services to a number of cyclotron operating companies.
